Mochlos

This seaside village has been spared the great tourist development. Stroll by the sea and eat very good fish in most taverns
 

Vai

Palm trees, and clear blue waters. The exotic landscape worth a visit, although the trees need more care and the throng is great. For swimming, choose the adjacent beach Ermoupoli.
 
 

Knossos

The Minoan Palace of Knossos is 5 km south-east from Heraklion  The first settlement at Knossos dated around 7.000Ch., in the Neolithic Age. The economic, social and political development of the settlement led by the late second millennium BC the construction of the majestic palace of Knossos.  Knossos was the seat of the legendary King Minos and the main power center in Crete.
 

Phaistos

Located almost in the center of the plain of Messara, built on a hill. A well-preserved Minoan palace takes some time to turn and must have in mind that we will not see the famous Phaistos disc. The album, one of the mysteries of archeology, since nobody has yet deciphered the 241 symbols shown above is kept in the Archaeological Museum of Heraklion.
 
 

Cretaquarium

Margarites

In the "village Pithara", which is 27 km from Rethymno and enjoys magnificent views of the sea, you will see people make pottery by hand in the traditional way, you will walk in flowered paths and eat good Cretan food.
 
 
 

ANOGIA

Is the Gaulish village of Crete.  Anogia have a particular culture and mentality, the first feature of which is the warm hospitality and the dignity and collective life of residents. Saint Paul - Triopetra

It is one of the most beautiful and "private" beaches of Crete and has a path to reach them. The southern beaches in Rethymno will compensate though: dunes several meters in Saint Paul, coarse sand and beautiful sunset in Triopetra.
 
 

Arkadi Monastery

The historic monastery is 23 km from Rethymno and worth a walk up there not only for the beauty of landscape and architecture, but also for the heavy history, with the highlight of the holocaust of 1866, when the Turks besieged the monastery Open for visits from 9 am to 8 pm, T/28310-83.136.
 

Preveli

Most of the area last summer, but in the palm Prevelis is already reborn. This rare ecosystem located next to the sandy beach of Prevelis.
 
 

 

Axos

It is built on a slope at an altitude about 500 meters In the village there are over 40 churches, The Acropolis , the temple of Venus, vaulted tombs , the remains of the walls, signs of ancient times, and the Byzantine stone churches ( some with mosaics and frescoes with others ) have been occasionally subject of study leading to synthesize the history of Axos ancient times to the present.
